East Palestine/Bristol winner @ #8 Mineral Ridge, 1:00pm
#23 Heartland Christian vs/@ Cornerstone Christian/Lordstown winner, 1:00pm

Best Sectional Semifinal Matchup
Andrews Osborne Academy @ Wellsville

Underrated Sectional Semifinal Matchup
St. John School @ Warren JFK

Potential Marquee Sectional Final Matchup
East Palestine/Bristol @ Mineral Ridge

Summary – Springfield is the clear favorite in this district, but Southern could give them a game in the district semifinals. Bristol-East Palestine winner will play Mineral Ridge and could be an interesting section. The winner of that section could give Cornerstone Christian more trouble than they might expect in the district semfinals.

#17 Windham @ #7 Vienna Mathews, 7:00pm

Fairport Harding/Lowellville winner @ #6 Southington Chalker, 1:00pm
#20 Lisbon David Anderson vs/@ Western Reserve/Maplewood winner, 1:00pm

Best Sectional Semifinal Matchup
Lowellville @ Fairport Harding

Underrated Sectional Semifinal Matchup
McDonald @ Newton Falls (at Lordstown)

Potential Marquee Sectional Final Matchup
Newton Falls/McDonald @ Mathews
Fairport Harding/Lowellville @ Chalker

Summary – It would appear that Badger and Western Reserve are on a collision course for a district championship game, but fellow conference foes might have a say in that. Mathews has been playing really well in the second half of this season and could make a run to the district semifinals against Badger. You can’t rule out McDonald or Newton Falls out of that section though. Lowellville made a run to the district semifinals last year after defeating a couple of NAC teams and they have a chance to do the same again this year.

Northeast 3 @ Norwayne H.S.

Sectional Semifinals – February 15th
#8 Rittman @ #6 St. Thomas Aquinas, 7:00pm
#12 Lake Ridge Academy @ #5 Mogadore, 7:00pm
#11 Oberlin @ #3 Dalton , 7:00pm
#4 Canton Central Catholic @ #2 Waterloo, 7:00pm

Sectional Finals – February 18th
Rittman – St. Thomas Aquinas winner @ #1 Richmond Heights, 1:00pm
#9 Kidron Central Christian vs/@ Mogadore – Lake Ridge Academy winner, 1:00pm
#10 Open Door Christian vs/@ Dalton-Oberlin winner, 1:00pm
#7 East Canton @ Waterloo-Canton Central Catholic winner, 1:00pm

Best Sectional Semifinal Matchup
Canton Central Catholic @ Waterloo

Underrated Sectional Semifinal Matchup
Rittman @ St. Thomas Aquinas

Potential Marquee Sectional Final Matchup
East Canton @ Waterloo/Canton CC

Summary – Other than Canton Central Catholic and Waterloo’s sectional semifinal game, there are clear favorites for the other three district semifinal spots. The winner of Canton CC and Waterloo will be the favorite to come out of that section, but East Canton awaits the winner that could be beaten up after the biggest sectional game (semifinal or final) in this district. Many will pick Richmond Heights, but Dalton has played one of the toughest schedules in the entire state in Division IV and they have been in these district tournament games for a long time now. Dalton would give Richmond Heights some trouble and could ultimately pull off the win. Also, this district is played at Norwayne H.S. , a school that is in the same conference as Dalton (Wayne County Athletic League).

East District

Sectional Quarterfinals – February 13th – 7:00pm
#17 Bridgeport @ #1 Hannibal River

Sectional Semifinals – February 15th – 7:00pm
#16 Conotton Valley vs/@ River/Bridgeport winner
#13 Caldwell @ #7 Garaway
#10 Rosecrans @ #6 Tuscarawas Central Catholic
#15 Newcomerstown @ #3 New Matamoras Frontier
#14 Toronto @ #2 Berlin Hiland
#11 Steubenville Catholic Central @ #8 Malvern
#9 Shenandoah @ #4 Strasburg-Franklin
#12 Shadyside @ #5 Monroe Central

Sectional Finals – February 18th – 1:00pm
River/Conotton Valley/Bridgeport winner vs Garaway/Caldwell winner
Frontier/Newcomerstown winner vs Tuscarawas CC/Rosecrans winner
Hiland/Toronto winner vs Steubenville CC/Malvern winner
Strasburg/Shenandoah winner vs Monroe Central/Shadyside winner

Best Sectional Semifinal Matchup
Rosecrans @ Tuscarawas CC

Underrated Sectional Semifinal Matchup
Shenandoah @ Strasburg-Franklin

Potential Marquee Sectional Final Matchups
Tuscarawas CC/Rosecrans @ Frontier
Sugarcreek Garaway @ Hannibal River

Summary – Hannibal River has been the most consistent all season long and is going to be worthy of the top seed in this district. However, Berlin Hiland may have been playing as well as anyone in this district since the Classic in the Country. Their non-conference schedule always prepares them for tournament play and this year is no different. Some other teams to keep an eye on this district that could make some noise and cause some chaos would be Tuscarawas Central Catholic, Strasburg-Franklin, and Rosecrans. Two other teams that could be a dark horse to cause an upset could be Garaway and Shenandoah. Most likely, this could be a Hannibal River vs Berlin Hiland district championship game.
